Our Fish
From the auction floor, straight to Kyoto — alive
Founded in 1965. Every Thursday the owner leaves Kyoto at 4 a.m. and drives three hours to the fishing ports of Obama and Takahama in Fukui, to bid at the auction himself. In his own live-fish tank truck he brings the catch back to Kyoto the same day, still swimming — no wholesalers, no middlemen. That short journey is why the fish here is as fresh as it gets, and why it includes fish that never appear in Kyoto’s central market.

Our Space
A room carved from a single tree
The counter, floor and walls are all finished with wood from one single muku (Aphananthe) tree, under a ceiling of woven bamboo bark. Refined like a kappo restaurant, relaxed like an izakaya — comfortable for solo diners at the counter, families on tatami, and banquets of up to 30 guests.
